State Shipping Laws: Georgia

Summary

A permit is required for all off-site direct-to-consumer shipments. There is a permit fee of $50, states sales tax, local sales tax and excise tax must be paid for off-site sales only. Brands must be registered. Brand approval confirmations will not be sent out, thus wineries may begin shipping once they receive the Special Order Shipping Permit. The volume limit for off-site sales is 12 cases per household per calendar year. The age of the consumer must be verified by a government issued ID or age verification service. The volume limit for on-site sales is 5 cases per household per year. There are no reporting, brand registration or tax requirements for on-site sales.

Customer Aggregate Volume Limit

There is a limit on volume of total shipments from a winery to each consumer over a specified period of time.

  • This region has a limit of 12 cases per householdper year for offsite sales with the following exception: (12 cases per person or per address per calendar year).
